The repertoire of the orchestra is carefully selected to showcase the depth and breadth of the Viennese music tradition while integrating contemporary works that inspire both the musicians and the audience. Since 2019, Philharmonic Generations Vienna has been presenting the Chinese New Year concert in the world-famous Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein, celebrating the friendship between China and Austria. In addition to its successful work and concerts in Austria, Philharmonic Generations Vienna is expanding its commitment internationally. In selected countries, former musicians of the Vienna Philharmonic collaborate with young talents from the host country over several days, working on selected pieces. These works are then performed either at a local venue or as part of a tour. The aim of these concerts is to promote intercultural exchange and strengthen musical collaboration across borders. For young musicians in the host country, this offers a unique opportunity to benefit from the experience of the Vienna Philharmonic and the rich Viennese music tradition.
