Laxenburg Palace Concerts

On Saturday, 30 May 2026, at 7:00 p.m., as well as on Sunday, 31 May 2026, at 11:00 a.m., the magnificent Laxenburg Palace Theater invites you to a very special highlight of the Laxenburg Palace Concerts. Philharmonic Generations Vienna, under the direction of Friedrich Pfeiffer, presents a program that unites three great masterpieces of music history, guiding listeners into the worlds of Haydn, Prokofiev, and Mozart.

The concert opens with Joseph Haydn and his famous Trumpet Concerto in E-flat major, Hob. VIIe:1. Composed around 1796, this work is among the most beloved trumpet concertos of all time. With its blend of festive brilliance and refined lyricism, it embodies the classical spirit of Viennese music and provides a radiant opening to the Laxenburg Palace Concerts.

The second part features Sergei Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 1 in D major, Op. 25 “Classical”. With this work, composed in 1917, the Russian master pays homage to the Viennese Classical tradition. The symphony is cheerful, elegant, and full of wit and energy – the perfect music to complement the unique atmosphere of the Laxenburg Palace Concerts.

The morning concludes with a pinnacle of the entire symphonic repertoire: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Symphony No. 40 in G minor, K. 550. This work is one of the most poignant and dramatic creations of the Salzburg genius. The passionate intensity of the G-minor symphony makes it a landmark of concert literature – and a worthy highlight of the Laxenburg Palace Concerts.

The matinee in the historic palace theater, one of the most beautiful performance venues in Lower Austria, promises not only a musical experience of the highest order but also a feast for all the senses. The unique ambience of the palace, the excellent acoustics of the theater, and the vibrant interpretation by Philharmonic Generations Vienna make this event an unforgettable part of the Laxenburg Palace Concerts 2026.
